9. The Most Dreamlike Wild Stream Hot Spring | Taitung
Winter in Taiwan offers a unique canyoning activity — searching for wild stream hot springs. The Lishong Hot Spring, at an elevation of 1,075 meters, cascades from multiple rock walls in the valley or sprays through crevices, forming a colorful hot spring waterfall that looks like a fairy descending to earth, earning it the praise of “Taiwan’s most beautiful wild stream hot spring.”

8. Monkey Cave Subterranean Adventure | Kaohsiung
Shoushan, known as the backyard garden of Kaohsiung residents and also called the natural paradise of southern Taiwan, is dotted with caves of all sizes. By rappelling down from the surface into pitch-black caves where you can’t see your hand in front of your face, you can listen carefully to your own breathing and heartbeat, feel the melody of the wind brushing past your ears, and venture deeper inside. The final rappel brings a surprising twist — even though you’re descending, you end up back on the surface. To uncover the mystery of this magical upside-down cave, you’ll have to solve the puzzle yourself.

7. Climbing a Walking Tree | Taitung
Have you ever seen a walking tree besides in Taiwan? It turns out that the massive, intertwined banyan aerial roots keep growing, gradually expanding the tree’s territory over time. On the way to the “walking tree,” you must overcome numerous challenges, including several physically demanding “hero slopes,” a “one-line sky” rock wall that’s only wide enough for one person to squeeze through sideways, and finally, climbing a giant tree about two stories high to complete the journey.

Beyond railways and cultural sites, the Pingxi Line also boasts plenty of natural scenery. Take the Lingjiao Waterfall, located near Lingjiao Station and just a five-minute walk away. 5. Hot Air Balloon Festival | Taitung
In Taiwan, I see this land from a different perspective. What does it feel like to float alongside the clouds and gaze down at the earth? Soaring in a hot air balloon isn’t just like riding an elevator to enjoy the view — freely letting the instructor guide you as you glide through the sky, taking in every bit of the landscape, enjoying the unrestrained thrill of freedom, and chasing every cloud in the sky with the wind.

4. Sun Moon Lake – The World’s Most Beautiful Bike Path | Nantou
In Taiwan, I cycled into the world’s most beautiful bike path with my own feet. 3. Stepping onto East Asia’s First Cliff | Hualien
The Zhuiyu Ancient Trail, referred to by the Japanese as East Asia’s first cliff — a cloud-high ancient path. Standing on the edge of an 800-meter cliff and bravely stepping forward on a mere 60-centimeter-wide path, the reward is a view of the vertical Wuxi Valley, dropping about 500 meters. From here, you can gaze out at the Taroko Gorge and take in the full 180-degree panoramic beauty. Walking along the Zhuiyu Ancient Trail also pays deep respect to the sweat left behind by our ancestors.
2. Searching for Angel’s Tears | Taitung
In Taiwan, I found sapphire-blue angel’s tears through perseverance. There’s a mysterious place in Taiwan visited by angels, where the azure lake surface shines like a gemstone, internationally known as “the sapphire God lost in the human world.” The magical part? Jiaping Lake has no incoming streams or rivers, yet its waters remain full year-round. That’s why some say it’s an angel’s teardrop fallen to earth — this is Jiaping Lake.
1. Canoeing Along the Qingshui Cliffs | Hualien
In Taiwan, I got to know “Formosa” from a different angle. The most beautiful view of Taiwan, as reported by foreign media, is the award-winning Qingshui Cliffs, known for their Formosa-like beauty. This coastline, even admired by the Portuguese back in the day, is so magnificent that photos can’t fully capture it — only by traveling along the coastal highway can you fully appreciate its stunning beauty.
