The world’s first hot spring theme park has opened in Japan！ Beppu City in Kyushu has fulfilled its promise made last year—if the “Yu～Enchi Project” video reached one million views, they would build a hot spring theme park. The park officially opened on the 29th, and from now until the 31st, it will admit 3,000 visitors per day. Inside, there’s even a hot spring roller coaster that lets guests enjoy the thrill while soaking.

Beppu City in Kyushu is a famous hot spring destination in Japan, with one of the highest volumes of hot spring water output in the world. In 2016, they launched the “Yu～Enchi Project” video, where all amusement rides—including roller coasters, Ferris wheels, and carousels—were integrated with hot springs. Beppu’s mayor also promised at the end of the video that if the view count hit one million, the hot spring theme park would become a reality. This attracted attention from numerous domestic and international netizens, and the video surpassed 4 million views within just a few days of uploading.

Fulfilling its promise, Beppu City has completed the world’s first hot spring theme park, featuring a variety of attractions such as roller coasters, carousels, and suspension bridges. The most eye-catching attraction is the roller coaster, where the train cars are filled with bubbles, allowing riders to sit amid the froth as the coaster climbs and dives, with bubbles floating through the air.
The park also includes a large suspension bridge where, as visitors cross, hot spring water sprays from the left side, giving them a fun “hot spring baptism.” On flatter ground, guests can enjoy a bubble party or ride a carousel while sitting in small hot spring tubs. These diverse features quickly became a hot topic online after the park’s opening.
In addition, to better serve visitors, the hot spring theme park offers temporary free Wi-Fi, allowing guests to take photos, check in, and share various moments from the park at any time.
