Fang Clan Ancestral Hall of Yunyang

The Fang Clan Ancestral Hall of Yunyang is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Fang Clan Ancestral Hall of Yunyang is located in Yangxia Village, Pumei Town, Yunxiao County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: It consists of three architectural complexes — the Fang Family Ancestral Temple Xiaositing, the branch ancestral hall Xianzhengtang, and Zhiaitang. Xiaositing was first built during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1398), with the existing structure being from the Qing Dynasty. It faces south and includes a pond, screen wall, front hall, main hall, and the Temple of General Zhaode, among others. The front hall is three bays wide and two bays deep; the main hall and the Temple of General Zhaode are both three bays wide and three bays deep, all featuring raised-beam and through-tenon style timber frameworks. Zhiaitang was built during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1736–1795), also facing south, with a construction area of 178 square meters. The main section is three bays wide, with the front hall two bays deep and the main hall three bays deep, all using raised-beam and through-tenon timber structures and gabled roofs. Xianzhengtang was constructed during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1821–1850), facing south, and comprises the ancestral hall courtyard, front hall, main hall, and west-side wing rooms, with a total construction area of 320 square meters. The front hall is three bays wide and two bays deep, while the main hall is three bays wide and three bays deep, all using raised-beam and through-tenon timber frameworks and gabled roofs.

In 2013, the Fang Clan Ancestral Hall of Yunyang was designated as part of the eighth batch of Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected Area: Each of the three architectural complexes is surrounded by a buffer zone extending 20 meters outward.

Pumei Town: Pumei Town is located in the central part of Yunxiao County, Fujian Province, approximately 2.5 kilometers from the county government. It administers 3 communities and 24 administrative villages. National Highway 324 runs through the town. The Nanxi River flows from northwest to southeast before joining the Zhangjiang River. Cultural heritage sites within the area include the provincial-level protected Chen Zheng Tomb and Xianbaoshan Martyrs' Cemetery, as well as Xianfengyan and Nanshan Temple. A castle built to resist Japanese pirates was erected here during the Ming Dynasty.
