The Site of the Establishment of the Minnan Brigade is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Establishment of the Minnan Brigade is located at Congzailiao on Shuixishan Rock, Wushanping, Tongbei Village, Heping Township, Yunxiao County.

On June 18, 1947, Chen Wenping, Secretary of the Minnan Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, attended an expanded meeting of the Min-Yue-Gan Border Area Working Committee. This meeting established the Party’s overarching task as “building the People’s Liberation Army and liberated areas in the Min-Yue-Gan Border Area,” and formulated the strategy of “mobilizing the masses widely and waging guerrilla warfare,” deciding to quickly concentrate forces to engage in head-on struggle against opposing factions. At the same time, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Min-Yue-Gan Border Area Corps was established (Commander Liu Yongsheng, Political Commissar Wei Jinshui, Deputy Political Commissar Zhu Manping), comprising three brigades in eastern Guangdong, western Fujian, and southern Fujian, totaling over 2,000 personnel. In July, following instructions from the Border Area Working Committee, the Minnan Regional Committee held a meeting in Shuhai, Nanjing, deciding to end the period of concealment, quickly regroup forces, and strive to open up a new phase of armed struggle in southern Fujian. After the meeting, Lu Dao, Lu Yan, Wang Hanjie, and others went to Shuijingping in Wushan to convene another meeting, and the Minnan Regional Committee’s headquarters also relocated back to Wushan from Shuhai, Nanjing. Upon returning to Wushan, Lu Dao resumed his role as Secretary of the Minnan Regional Committee, with Chen Wenping as Deputy Secretary. This meeting decided to swiftly gather military and political cadres scattered across different locations and those who had returned from the Philippines, in order to establish the Minnan Brigade. On August 1, more than 30 officers and soldiers of the Zhongqian Brigade, who were undergoing training at Congzailiao on Shuixishan Rock, Wushanping, were reorganized and officially established the Minnan Brigade of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Min-Yue-Gan Border Area Corps (referred to as the Minnan Brigade). Li Zhongxian served as Brigade Commander, Lu Dao as Political Commissar, Wang Hanjie as Deputy Brigade Commander (later reassigned as Deputy Political Commissar, succeeded by Wu Yang), and Chen Wenping as Deputy Political Commissar. The Minnan Brigade had over 30 members, organized into three squads, equipped with over 30 rifles and a number of homemade explosive devices.

Due to the needs of modern production, most of the Site of the Establishment of the Minnan Brigade has been converted into orchards.
