The Ping Shui Township Soviet Government Monument is a classic site of red tourism.

The Ping Shui Township Soviet Government Monument is located in Ping Shui Village, Mapu Township, Yunxiao County.

In March 1934, Lin Lu, a standing committee member of the Jinghepu County Committee, and Li Ruosong, secretary of the Fifth District Committee, were assigned by the Jinghepu County Committee to strengthen revolutionary leadership in Ping Shui Village. In April of the same year, the Chinese Communist Party Ping Shui Branch was established here, with He Zhao as the branch secretary and seven party members. In August, based on the evolving situation and the demands of the masses, Lin Lu and Li Ruosong led peasants in establishing the Ping Shui Township Soviet Government at Ping Shui Building, raising the first red regime flag in Yunxiao County. They put forward slogans for land redistribution, and after research by the Party branch, He Yi was elected as chairman of the township Soviet government, He Lianhua as chairwoman of the women's department, He Zhicheng as military commissioner, He Zhao as land and economy commissioner, and He Shuipao as commander of the Red Guards. In October, under the leadership of the Party branch and the township Soviet government, a mass land reform movement was launched, resulting in more than 500 landless or land-poor peasants from over 130 households receiving over 500 acres of land. On November 16, Zhang Jian, captain of the Yunxiao County Security Battalion, led a company of security forces along with local militias organized by the four major feudal clans of the He lineage—totaling several hundred people—to launch a fierce attack on Ping Shui Village. Due to the overwhelming disparity in strength, Red Guards commander He Shuipao, women's department chairwoman He Lianhua, and others heroically sacrificed their lives. The revolutionary forces suffered a severe blow; landlords and gentry took back the land redistributed during the reform, the peasant movement was temporarily suppressed, and revolutionary activities went underground. In August 2009, to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the peasant movement, the People’s Government of Yunxiao County erected the Ping Shui Township Soviet Government Monument in Ping Shui Village, Mapu Township.

The overall design of the Ping Shui Township Soviet Government Monument is modeled after the shape of a party flag. It stands 3.4 meters tall and 2.2 meters wide, inlaid with polished red decorative stone in the center. The front features a hammer and sickle emblem and the golden characters “1934 Ping Shui Township Soviet Government Monument,” while the back describes the revolutionary struggle history of the people of Ping Shui Township.
