Former Residence of Tang Chaoyi

The former residence of Tang Chaoyi is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Tang Chaoyi, also known as Yongxi Hall, is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Dongshan County, located at No. 511 Gongyuan Street, Tongling Town, Dongshan County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. Built in the late Ming Dynasty, it consists of a front and rear section, with the rear section featuring one main hall and four rooms, covering a construction area of 260 square meters. The architectural style features a hanging gable roof and a timber-and-earth structure. Inside are a wooden plaque inscribed with “Yongxi Hall” and carved wooden couplets. A pair of stone flagpoles stands in front of the residence, all well preserved. Tang Chaoyi was a successful candidate in the imperial examination in the sixth year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty, and he served as an official up to the position of Vice Director of the Imperial Clan Court.
