Dongshan Island, Zhangzhou, is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Dongshan Island is located between China's two special economic zones, Xiamen and Shantou. It lies 110 nautical miles east of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and 210 nautical miles south of Hong Kong. The island is surrounded by 32 smaller islands, covering a total area of 194 square kilometers, and is a key tourist destination in Fujian Province.

Dongshan Island is an important port for Fujian’s external and cross-strait economic and trade activities. It is a 21st-century port tourism city approved and planned by the People's Government of Fujian Province, and a key investment site for developing the prosperous belt along the west coast of the Taiwan Strait. With mild winters and cool summers, no frost all year round, and an average annual temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius, Dongshan boasts distinctive southern coastal scenery. The main island features seven crescent-shaped bays connected end to end, stretching over 30 kilometers, forming a natural beach. Notable attractions include the Tongshan Ancient City, military camps of the Ming Dynasty general Qi Jiguang and national hero Zheng Chenggong, and the former residence of scholar Huang Daozhou in Shenjing Village. Natural wonders such as the Tongshan Wind-moving Rock, known as “the world’s most marvelous rock,” and the Stone Monk Worshiping the Pagoda are marvels of nature. The Four Islets—Dragon, Tiger, Lion, and Elephant—are strikingly lifelike and incredibly picturesque, making them truly unforgettable.

The waters around Dongshan are the center of the Southern Fujian fishing grounds, abundant in seafood, especially famous for lobster and grouper.
