Hundred Billion New City

Hundred Billion New City is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The famous seaside resort — Dongshan Island’s “Hundred Billion New City” — is located on the shores of Jinluan Bay on Dongshan Island, covering an area of 14 square kilometers. A grand, triumphal-arch-inspired stone gateway stands tall, adorned with the gleaming golden characters “Hundred Billion New City.” The wide, straight Jinluan Bay Avenue leads directly to the beach, lined on both sides with lush palm trees, yellow-heart figs, and various flowering trees. Rows of luxurious villas in European and American styles are neatly arranged. Seafood restaurants, convention centers, nightclubs, foreign business clubs, and more come alive each night with bright lights, music, and dancing. Horseback riding on the beach showcases equestrian prowess, while thrilling water sports offer endless fun.

The Dongshan Hundred Billion New City project was planned and constructed under the national policy of further opening up and developing the national economy. Investors from the Hong Kong Pacific Enterprises Group recognized the potential of this “prime location” on Dongshan Island and, in partnership with domestic and international consortia and financial institutions, planned to build a 14-square-kilometer international luxury tourism hub on the shores of Jinluan Bay — Hundred Billion New City — with an annual reception capacity of 3 million visitors.

It is set to become an internationally standard tourism city, following in the footsteps of Australia’s Gold Coast, Hawaii in the United States, and Pattaya in Thailand.

Construction of the Hundred Billion New City project officially began in February 1993, with an investment of 8

hundred million RMB to date, resulting in the completion of over 400 villas, a water sports center, an equestrian training center, and a villa-style international club.

The area boasts a superior environment, making it an ideal site for various marine sports. It has hosted numerous national and international water sports competitions. Currently, three completed facilities — the International Club, Water Activity Center, and Equestrian Training Center — have been designated as national-level tourism and resort products.
