Era: Ming and Qing Dynasties

Location: Guihua Street, Tongling Town, Dongshan County

Introduction: Commonly known as "Yanwuting Wanfugong," it was first built during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1398). Originally, it was used to bury the unclaimed or childless remains of local residents on Dongshan Island, with a shrine erected to honor their spirits. In the third year of the Jingtai era of the Ming Dynasty (1452), the Tongshan naval stronghold began conscripting soldiers to guard Taiwan and Penghu. After the Qing Dynasty unified Taiwan, over 40,000 soldiers from Dongshan were dispatched in rotation to serve in Taiwan and Penghu. When these soldiers died in service or of illness, their remains were typically placed in ceramic urns and then transported back to Dongshan for burial here.

In 2009, the Cemetery of Soldiers Guarding Taiwan in Dongshan was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
