Introduction Located in the center of Guoyang County, covering an area of 22,000 square meters, it was reconstructed from the former sports stadium. This square is a landmark classic of urban construction in the new century. It integrates large-scale sculptures, musical fountains, green lawns, and highlights the characteristics of Taoist culture. The central plaza of the sunken square is paved with a Taiji diagram pattern, and at its southern end are installed nine dragon-shaped totem poles. The Laozi Cultural Square is a great place for citizens to relax and exercise.

Lao Dan, surname Li, given name Er, courtesy name Boyang, with "Dan" being his posthumous title, was a native of Kuang County, Chu State during the Spring and Autumn period (present-day east of Luyi County, Henan Province). His birth and death dates are unknown. He once served as the historiographer in charge of the royal archives of the Zhou Dynasty, and later as the Grand Historiographer, well-versed in the changes of history from ancient to modern times. In his later years, he lived in seclusion in Pei, farming and teaching disciples, lecturing on virtue and the Way, and later traveled westward into the Central Plains, where he died in Qin.
