Dongtaiqing Palace

Dongtaiqing Palace is a cultural heritage site protected by Guoyang County.

Dongtaiqing Palace is located 17.5 kilometers east of the county town. In front of the palace stands a stele from the second year of the Tianqi era during the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Ming Dynasty (1622), though it does not specify whether the temple was originally built or rebuilt. In the first year of the Xuantong era of the Qing Dynasty (1909), Yuan Dahua, a native of Guoyang County, renovated the site and erected a stele to record the event. According to the inscription, the original palace had three main halls: the central hall enshrined a statue of Laozi riding an ox; to the west of the central hall were the Three Palaces, with the Ancestral Master Hall at the front, the Meteor Shrine to the east, and the Holy Mother Nunnery in the northwest. Currently, only the front and rear main halls remain—each with three rooms—and they are now used as part of Taqing Primary School. It is now designated as a county-level key cultural relic protection unit.
