Anhui Daoyuan National Wetland Park
Anhui Daoyuan National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.
Anhui Daoyuan National Wetland Park is located at the confluence of the Guohe River and Wujia River in the northwest of Guoyang County. The planned first-phase area covers a total of 849.12 hectares, with boundaries extending east to Provincial Highway S202, west to the Outer Ring West Road, south to Xiguan Road, and north to Our Lady Road. Guided by the principles of prioritizing protection, scientific restoration, rational utilization, and sustainable development, the wetland park is comprehensively planned as a multi-functional, socially beneficial ecological park integrating wetland ecological conservation, scientific research and monitoring, public education, eco-tourism, and the exhibition of Laozi culture. The planned construction of Guoyang Daoyuan National Wetland Park will achieve harmonious coexistence between humans and nature through terrain integration, water system restoration, and wetland vegetation recovery. Promoting Laozi’s Taoist culture helps enhance Guoyang's visibility and influence, provide employment opportunities, adjust the industrial structure, and increase income. It also strengthens citizens' awareness of environmental protection and promotes the enhancement and dissemination of wetland culture. The park’s construction is not only necessary for ecological protection but also crucial for improving people’s livelihoods, playing a significant role in advancing the county’s sustainable economic and social development. Meanwhile, the wetland park will fully document and showcase the ecological succession process in the plain coal mining subsidence area, holding important scientific value for studying ecological restoration and succession in China’s coal mining subsidence zones, and serving as an exemplary model. When integrated with the Daoyuan National Wetland Park, Laozi Chunqiu Film City, and Laozi Cultural Ecological Park, it will become a premier destination for ecology, culture, and tourism. This fully embodies the true essence of “the Eastern Sacred Land of Taoism, a Green Oasis on the Central Plains.”
The wetland conservation area mainly consists of the Guohe River, its riverbanks, and wetlands in the subsidence zone. The focus here is on essential conservation management such as protection and monitoring, along with the reconstruction and cultivation of degraded wetland vegetation in areas where local vegetation has declined.
The restoration and reconstruction area aims to restore the diversity of the wetland ecosystems in the Guohe and Wujia rivers. By combining natural recovery with artificial facilitation, ecosystem restoration and reconstruction are carried out to create diverse wetland landscapes.
The science education and publicity area highlights the ecological functions, educational roles, and scientific research and monitoring capabilities of wetlands. Projects such as a wetland botanical garden, a wetland purification function demonstration garden, an aquatic cash crop planting demonstration garden, and a science education and publicity center help instill ecological conservation concepts among visitors.
The rational utilization area is composed of three sub-areas: Laozi culture display, wetland culture display, and modern agricultural experience. It organically combines elements such as Taoist cultural landscapes, wetland science education, and modern leisure agriculture, offering activities that do not harm the wetland ecosystem for visitors to enjoy sightseeing, explore Taoist philosophy, and gain insight.
The management and service area includes facilities such as a visitor distribution square and parking lots. The landscape design emphasizes wetland concepts and local cultural features, forming a landmark architectural complex in Guoyang. Currently, infrastructure construction has reached an initial scale.
