Wuhu Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area

The Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area is located in Daqiao Town, Jiujiang District, Wuhu City, Anhui Province. It borders the golden waterway of the Yangtze River and is close to National Highway 205, offering very convenient land and water transportation. Tianmen Mountain is the site where the famous ancient Chinese poet Li Bai composed his poem “Gazing at Tianmen Mountain.” His verse “Heaven’s Gate is cleft through Mount Taihang by the river wide; / Blue waters in the gorge leap eastward far and high. / From opposite banks the mountains look like cliffs so steep; / A lonely sail comes from where the sun hangs low on the deep” is vividly brought to life here. The landscape spans time and space, the culture flows through the ages, enduring the test of time and continuing to thrive through generations.

The planned area of the Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area covers 105 hectares, divided into two sections: “outside the dike” and “inside the dike” along the Yangtze River embankment. The area outside the dike is approximately 46 hectares, while the area inside the dike covers 59 hectares. On the eastern side of the site, an “ecological green space control zone” has also been planned for future use. At the northeastern foot of Tianmen Mountain within the site lies the locally renowned Tongfo Temple. The temple features structures such as the Mahavira Hall. During holidays like Chinese New Year, it attracts large crowds of worshippers and is bustling with activity.
