Legend has it that Jin Qiaojue lived by the stream with a golden turtle, recited sutras on the Sutra-Worshipping Platform, and tamed a malicious eagle that had been harming locals, making it cling to the cliff to listen to the scriptures. The Min family father and son were moved by his spirit and brought a spiritual rooster to become his disciples. Later, even the Buddha was moved and helped him fulfill his grand vision of establishing a sacred site.

One day, at dawn, the Buddha descended on a cloud to preach the true scriptures. The holy monk placed the wooden fish to the west, the venerable set up the Buddha’s drum to the south, and Jin Qiaojue held incense and candles on both sides of the incense burner, burning them devoutly as he listened. Guanyin from the South Sea also arrived, draped in a cloak. In an instant, auspicious clouds gathered over the Tiantai Peak and divine light shone. After half an hour, the Buddha, along with Jin Qiaojue and his disciples, ascended back to the heavens on a cloud, leaving behind only a pair of footprints.

Looking up, you’ll see the marvelous Dapeng Listening-to-Sutras Rock. Towering cliffs feature the Incense Burner Peak and Candle Peak, the mountain pass holds the Golden Rooster Rock that seems ready to crow, the creek side cradles the Golden Turtle gazing northward, the western hill gains a Wooden Fish Rock, the southern ridge adds a Buddha Drum Rock, and the lower cliffs are graced by the Guanyin Peak.

Buddhist Scenery refers to a scenic area formed by uniquely shaped peaks and rocks cleverly arranged around the Sutra-Worshipping Platform. It is said these formations were created when the divine light of the Buddha illuminated them during Jin Qiaojue’s scripture recitation, hence the name "Buddhist Scenery."

Transportation

From the Ancient Sutra-Worshipping Platform, walk up the curved mountain path below the Ten Kings Peak, then continue along the Qinglong Ridge beneath the Dragon Head Peak to reach the Tiantai Peak. The journey offers continuous stunning views.
