The Puyuma Express, designed by Xiao Qingyang—the first Chinese album packaging designer to be nominated for a Grammy Award—features bright colors and a powerful look, and officially began service on July 1st. In addition to keeping the red color scheme on the front, the white base has been replaced with blue skies, hot air balloons, and indigenous patterns, while the rear carriages showcase the beautiful scenery of Taitung, leaving many passengers who have seen it in person exclaiming how gorgeous it is!

7From the 1st to the 15th, the Puyuma Express ran trial services, and after July 16th, Taiwan Railways will adjust its schedule, with all 17 Puyuma Express trains entering full operation as the main train type on the eastern trunk line. Thanks to its tilting train technology, which allows it to maintain speed even on curves, the Puyuma Express can reach a top speed of 130 km/h, significantly increasing rail transport capacity. What used to take four or five hours to travel from Taipei to Taitung now takes just 3 hours and 30 minutes on the direct service, allowing passengers to reach eastern Taiwan more easily and quickly.

During the trial operation period, additional services have been added, with four daily round-trips between Shulin and Taitung on weekdays and six on holidays. Starting July 16th, with the adjusted schedule, there will be one daily Tze-Chiang Limited Express, six DMU diesel multiple-unit Tze-Chiang Limited Express trains, 12 Puyuma Tze-Chiang Limited Express trains on weekdays, and 18 on holidays. It is believed that this will greatly enhance transportation efficiency in the future.
