To promote the new tourism concept of “Running Holidays,” New Taipei City Government has scheduled the first “Ulai Canyon Super Half Marathon” to take place at 7:00 AM on December 27 in Wulai District. This event allows all those who “travel for running” or “run for traveling” to experience a running adventure vastly different from city street jogs. Online registration is expected to open at 10:00 AM on September 16 on the New Taipei City Tourism website.

The New Taipei City Government stated that the Ulai Canyon race route features steep cliffs, serene scenery, pleasant constant temperatures, lush greenery, and fast-flowing streams, allowing runners to not only challenge their limits but also enjoy nature during both regular runs and the event days. To establish Wulai District as a destination for Running Holidays, the Tourism and Travel Bureau has installed 16 sports mileage markers along Xinfu Road (Provincial Highway 107), five photo-worthy scenic spot signs, and selected 16 unique plant and animal species native to Wulai to raise public awareness about conservation.

Additionally, the New Taipei City Government noted that the finisher medals and commemorative T-shirts for this Wulai running event were designed by designer Aaron Nieh and produced using fabric of the same grade as that used for World Cup soccer jerseys, making this another highlight of the competition.
