The Grand Mercy Treasure Hall is simple yet elegant, majestic and magnificent. At the center of the hall is the Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva, standing two zhang, eight chi, and nine cun tall (approx. 9.19 meters), surrounded by 84 statues of the Bodhisattva's 32 Manifestations and six patriarchs of Zen Buddhism. In front of the hall are the Bodhisattva Practice Pagoda and a double-dragon wall made of exquisitely carved white marble — a must-visit site for worshippers and tourists. The Lotus Throne of Dali features a benevolent expression, flanked by marble pillars and railings along the surrounding corridors, with intricately carved dragons and phoenixes above, all resplendent in gold.

Introduction

The Grand Mercy Treasure Hall is an extension of the sacred temple built in 1992 by Master Hui Shen on the east side of the national key temple, Zhantan Lin. It boasts a unique architectural style and is both majestic and grand, housing a 9.19-meter-tall Four-faced Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva statue.

On August 6, 1993, during the roof-beam ceremony of the Grand Mercy Tower, just as the central beam was put in place, a heavy rainstorm began — an occurrence said to be an auspicious sign, as the proverb states that rain on the “Ten-Thousand-Year Beam” brings great fortune.
