The Shuangxi Stream flows across in front of the temple, rushing noisily into the Qingtong River. From time to time, the sound of laundry pounding on the riverbank can be heard, creating a poetic atmosphere reminiscent of the line “intermittent cold wash beats with intermittent wind.”

Guide

Shuangxi Temple is backed by mountains and faces water. Beneath the rocks beside the temple lies the “Pure Spring,” whose water is crystal clear and trickles gently. To the east are the lower temple of Guanghua Monastery, the Zhexian Pavilion, and the “Forest and Rocks Vie in Beauty” stone carving cluster; to the west are Yun Kong Hut, Dingxi Hut, and Jiulian Chan Temple; to the south are the Jiuhua Mountain Buddhist Association’s Rear Mountain Branch and Shuangxi Temple Guesthouse. In the northeast corner of the temple, above Shuangxi Lecture Temple, stands the Relic Hall of Monk Daxing.

Introduction

Shuangxi Temple was built in 1935. At that time, Monk Jitong from Shuangxi Temple in Ankang County, Shaanxi Province, came here to offer incense. Admiring the beautiful mountain scenery, he constructed this temple in 1935, established the Huayan Buddhist site, took disciples, and preached scriptures. Monks and nuns resided here in 1945. The temple was destroyed by fire in 1957 and later rebuilt.

Transportation

Located at the rear of Jiuhua Mountain, walk 100 meters south from the entrance of Yanxia Garden to the fork in the road, then ascend the steps westward to reach Shuangxi Temple.

At the back of Jiuhua Mountain, walk 100 meters south from the entrance of Yanxia Garden to a fork in the path, then head west up the steps to reach Shuangxi Temple.
