The Tiantai Cable Car is located in the Minyuan and Tiantai scenic areas of Jiuhua Mountain, where natural landscapes blend seamlessly with cultural heritage. The lower station is situated in a depression 150 meters north of Dajue Temple, while the upper station is located in a mountain hollow 20 meters south of Muyu Peak, spanning a total length of 1,244.31 meters.

Riding the Tiantai Cable Car operated by Jiuhua Co., Ltd., you’ll be surrounded by seemingly endless bamboo forests and majestic peaks emerging before your eyes; colorful clouds beneath your feet and wildflowers blooming just for you. Ascend to Shiwang Peak to visit the highest and most magnificent temple on Jiuhua Mountain — Tiantai Temple, pay homage at the ancient Buddhist scripture worship platform, the sacred site of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, admire the world-renowned thousand-year-old Phoenix Pine, and take in the spectacular views of grotesque rocks, unique peaks, and sea of clouds. Here, you’ll encounter some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. Most Buddhist pilgrims who come to Jiuhua Mountain make a point to visit this spot, referring to it as the "Middle Heavens World." It’s a must-visit destination for travelers to Jiuhua Mountain, and there’s a local saying: “If you haven’t been to Tiantai, you haven’t really been to Jiuhua.”

The Tiantai Scenic Area is a high-altitude destination within Jiuhua Mountain and is considered one of its traditional and most iconic regions. The area features abrupt peaks, layered cliffs, and rugged rocks, characterized mainly by its “majestic, unique, peculiar, and mystical” landscape. Also known as Tiantai Zhengding, it stands at an elevation of 1,306 meters, making it the second-highest of Jiuhua Mountain’s ninety-nine peaks, only surpassed by Shiwang Peak and Qixian Peak.

There are two prime spots to watch the sunrise from the summit of Tiantai: Pengri Pavilion and Yunxia. Sunrise watchers typically stay overnight at Tiantai Temple or the Scripture Worship Platform, then arrive at these locations just before dawn. As the first light breaks, you can still see the lingering stars, while the eastern horizon glows with a gradually brightening white light. In moments, golden rays emerge, painting the sky with vibrant clouds as the sun rises slowly, casting radiant beams of light across the landscape in a breathtaking display of color and grandeur.
