Jiyang Cao Clan Ancestral Hall

Jiyang Cao Clan Ancestral Hall is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Qing Dynasty

Address: Chadong, Chengguan, Qingyang County, Chizhou City, Anhui Province.

Originally constructed in the fourth year of the Qianlong reign (1739) during the Qing Dynasty as a Han Chinese clan temple, it served as a site for ancestor and esteemed figure worship. It underwent expansion and repairs during the Guangxu era. The entire ancestral hall comprises a gate tower, winding corridors, the main hall, and the sleeping quarters. It is 22.6 meters wide and 65.5 meters long, featuring a five-bay brick-and-wood structure. The gate tower section covers a construction area of 141 square meters, with a rational and uniquely designed spatial layout. The main hall and sleeping quarters cover a construction area of 1,237.4 square meters, with a central courtyard and side corridors on both sides. The lower part of the roof uses a post-and-lintel structure, while the upper portion is mostly composed of a through-tenon structure. The entire building exhibits exquisite craftsmanship, forming a unified whole with high architectural artistry.

The ancestral hall was originally located in Yuétáng Team, Jiyang Village, Lingyang Township. In 1995, Qingyang County relocated the hall to its current site, which was then restored and converted into the “Qingyang County Museum.”

Protected Area: East to 5 meters outside the base of the Chenliangtai Memorial Archway, west to 50 meters outside the base of the rear wall, south to 35 meters outside the base of the gable wall, and north to 27 meters outside the base of the gable wall.

Construction Control Zone: Outside the protected area — 25 meters to the south, 3 meters to the north, and aligned with the protected area to the east and west.
