Jiuhua Lianshe

Located to the south of the Phoenix Pine, this is a key Buddhist temple in Anhui Province. Built in a residential style with walls made of small stones and a wooden frame, it has two courtyards and four bays, along with several meditation rooms. It serves as the Buddhist reception center on Jiuhua Mountain, where nuns from Minyuan often gather to discuss affairs, and pilgrims sometimes stay overnight. Inside the hall is a couplet: “All is emptiness—sit a while, no distinction between you and me; two paths lie ahead—drink a cup, then go your separate ways.” It turns out that even in Buddhism, interactions with people follow the principle of “a gentleman’s friendship is as light as water.” This couplet is rich in meaning.
