Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Covering an area of 6 square kilometers, Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Area is a tourist destination that combines Buddhist culture with natural landscapes. It features attractions such as Qingyuan Temple, the Hill of Five Hundred Arhats, the Qingyuan Sacred Cave, uniquely shaped rock formations, and maple forests. The scenic area has been developed and constructed strictly according to the national 4A-level standards and officially opened to the public on July 31, 2014.

Legend has it that Qingyuan Mountain originally had only one peak but was later split in half by a heavenly deity, hence also called “Two-Part Mountain.” A clear spring well within the mountain has flowed continuously since ancient times and has long been regarded as immortal water, which is how the name “Qingyuan” (meaning “clear source”) came about. At the end of the Song Dynasty, the “Qingyuan Temple” was built here and still stands today. The Hill of Five Hundred Arhats within the scenic area gained fame due to a legend involving the eminent Tang Dynasty monk Jin Dizang. When he first journeyed to Jiuhua Mountain, he passed through this area via the eastern route, stayed temporarily in a hut, and left a divine trace on the rocky hill behind the temple. He made a vow that all sentient beings would be freed from the three realms of suffering and attain the status of arhats. Later, skilled craftsmen carved five hundred arhat statues into the hill according to its color and texture. Additionally, Master Cijue, who practiced meditation at Qingyuan Temple, made a grand vow on the 19th day of the sixth lunar month in 2012 to undertake an 18-year retreat at this sacred site, marking a significant event in the Buddhist community. The Qingyuan Sacred Cave is another highlight of the scenic area. Inside the cave stands a 2.8-meter-tall statue of the God of Wealth, which has long been worshipped by people praying for prosperity.
