Sanxi Scenic Area

Sanxi Scenic Area is located in Lingnan Township, Xiuning County, Huangshan City, 48 kilometers from downtown Huangshan. The area features dozens of small streams that originate from the mountain peaks and converge into one major stream. Following the valley terrain from east to west, the stream meanders down into the village, where it joins two other trickling streams — the Hanchong Stream and the Lotus Stream — at the water outlet.

The scenic area boasts overlapping green mountains with a forest coverage rate of 95%. It is home to deep pools, long ravines, beautiful waterfalls, spiritual springs, unique peaks, and peculiar rocks, particularly known for its “abundance of waterfalls and serene pools.” Spots such as Bajie Pool, Osmanthus Pool, Five-Color Pool, Fushou Pool, and Yaochi… Some offer mirror-like surfaces with clear reflections; others ripple with crystal-clear waters. Some are unfathomably deep and ever-changing; some are crystal-clear and cool to the taste; others are pristine and immaculate. Above these tranquil pools hang high waterfalls, such as the Mother-Son Waterfall, the Autumn-Aware Waterfall, the Jade Belt Waterfall, the Heavenly Gate Waterfall, the Funnel Waterfall, and the Colored Stone Waterfall… Each cascades down with radiant splashes. Together, the waterfalls, pools, streams, valleys, and vegetation form a remarkable aquatic ecological landscape.

Visitors enter the scenic area through the Shuikou Pavilion at the entrance of Sanxi Village. The first sight to greet them is the charming rural landscape and Huizhou-style countryside scenery. Guests can either relax and take photos in the village or follow the stream upstream to the core tourist zone, where the serene forests and clear streams refresh the spirit. As they stroll along the creekside paths or wade across bridges, and even climb along plank walkways at challenging sections, they’ll encounter spectacular sights such as the Triple-Tiered Waterfall, the Autumn-Aware Waterfall, the Jade Belt Waterfall, and the Heavenly Gate Waterfall. Here, waterfalls cascade through exquisite valleys surrounded by uniquely shaped rocks.
