Huangcun Jinshi Mansion

Huangcun Jinshi Mansion is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Address: Located in Huangcun, Dongzhou Township, Xiuning County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province

It is the name of an ancestral hall. Built during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty by Jinshi Huang Fu. The structure is grand and imposing, with the main hall featuring seven tiers of dougong. The ridge is 12 meters high, the depth is 51 meters, and the overall width is 15.5 meters. There are four successive courtyards, namely the gate tower, gate house, main hall, and bedroom building, with side corridors connecting both sides of each courtyard. However, an additional gate tower was built in front of the gate house, and a courtyard was added behind the bedroom building, along with a false gate tower on the wall of the rear courtyard, forming a five-courtyard layout along the central axis. The building covers an area of 790 square meters. A wooden plaque inscribed with the three large characters “Jinshi Di” (Jinshi Mansion) is embedded in the gate tower.

The entire structure has 102 wooden pillars, with the main pillars having a circumference of 1.6 meters, all made from carefully selected materials. The beams are carved with dragons, phoenixes, lions, tigers, and other mythical and fierce animals, featuring delicate craftsmanship and vivid imagery. It is now a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Anhui Province.

Huangcun Jinshi Mansion is a typical ancestral hall architecture of Huizhou, featuring a complete floor plan, massive structural materials, refined construction techniques, and exquisite carvings and decorations. It serves as an important physical example for the study of ancient Huizhou architecture.

Protected area: 5 meters outside the foundation walls on the east, south, west, and north sides.

Construction control zone: 25 meters outside the protected area on the east, west, and south sides, and 50 meters on the north side.
