The former site of Xu Xilin's Anqing Uprising is located at the northern end of Xilin Street in Anqing City, near the city's No. 2 Middle School. On July 6, 1907, Xu Xilin assassinated Anhui Governor Enming here, which can be considered the first revolutionary action before the 1911 Revolution. It is now the south main gate of the No. 2 Middle School.

Xu Xilin (1873–1907), courtesy name Bosun, also known as Guanghanzi, was from Shanyin (now Shaoxing), Zhejiang. Born into a landlord-gentry-merchant family, he studied at a private school in his childhood, showed an interest in arithmetic and astronomy, and successively earned scholarly titles such as Linsheng and Fuju ren. Because he often promoted revolutionary ideas and harbored hatred toward the Qing court, his father, fearing association, gave him part of the family property and declared their paternal bond severed.

In 1901, Xu Xilin became a mathematics instructor at the Shaoxing Prefectural School, where he gained the trust of the prefect and was later promoted to vice supervisor.
