Tianchi Peak

This mountain peak is called “Tianchi Peak.” Slightly higher than Feilai Peak, it stands at an elevation of 1,426 meters and is the second highest peak of Tianzhu Mountain. Split into three parts and connected by two stone slabs, this is the famous “Fairy Crossing Bridge.”

There is a saying: “Everyone who reaches the bridge becomes immortal.” Ascending to the top of Tianchi Peak allows you to experience the grandeur of “reaching the summit and overlooking all the lesser peaks.”

The views here are incredibly vast and spectacular, making it the best spot to watch the sunrise, sea of clouds, Buddha’s halo, and sunset glow. On clear days, when you look into the distance, Feilai Peak, Xianzhu Peak, Wuzhi Peak stretch all the way to the horizon; Lian Dan Lake shines like a silvery mirror, nestled between the two silver ribbons of the Qian River and the Wan River; Dalongwo, Houshan, and Dongguan peaks resemble small hills, all visible in the panorama.

It is said that crossing the Fairy Crossing Bridge can make you immortal. Carefully stepping across the bridge, you will reach a platform no larger than 10 square meters, on which there are two stone pits—large and small—known as the “Tianchi” (Heavenly Pool).

The Tianchi is less than a foot deep, but the water is crystal clear. It does not overflow after prolonged rain, nor does it dry up during extended droughts. The outer edge of the Tianchi platform is a sheer cliff, breathtaking to behold, and is called the “Heart-Testing Cliff.”

The Heart-Testing Cliff is the best place to view the “Buddha’s Halo of Tianzhu Mountain.” When thick fog fills the valley and the bright sun hangs in the azure sky, a seven-colored halo—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet—will appear above the white mist. The halo layers upon itself, dazzlingly beautiful. Even more remarkable is that your shadow will definitely be reflected within this magnificent halo. Witnessing the “Buddha’s Halo” is considered a great blessing.

A solitary peak rises into the clouds, with massive rocks on its summit resembling a canopy, rugged and stone-covered, marked with shallow water stains all over—this is the third highest peak of Tianzhu Mountain—Feilai Peak, standing at 1,424 meters above sea level.

The entire peak consists of a single massive rock, with a stone on the top about three zhang (approximately 10 meters) long, over 30 zhang in circumference, and more than one zhang high. This round stone sits atop the peak like a lid, seemingly having flown from the heavens. Known as the “Flying Stone,” the peak takes its name from this rock. The Flying Stone on the summit resembles a grand crown, perfectly perched atop the peak. Many visitors are amazed when they see Feilai Peak.

Feilai Peak was formed during the Permian period of geological history and has a history of 200 million years. It is a limestone peak.

Its main component is calcium carbonate, which is soft in texture and susceptible to erosion and weathering. Over the years, this has created numerous uniquely shaped caves. Nature has shaped Feilai Peak into a place where “no rock is without wonder, no water without clarity, no cave without serenity, and no tree without antiquity.”
