Tianningzhai Site

The Tianningzhai Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Tianningzhai Site is located at No. 441 Qianyang Road, Meicheng Town, Qianshan County. Its topography features 1st to 3rd-level terraces along the lakeside, with a central uplift forming an oval-shaped earthen mound that rises about 20 meters above the ground and covers a total area of 6,000 square meters. It borders Xue Lake to the east, alleys belonging to the Longjing Neighborhood Committee of Meicheng Town to the south, and Qianyang Road to the north. The soil layers on the southeastern side of the mound are simple, showing a weakly differentiated profile. From 1982 to 1984, provincial archaeologists conducted two excavations on the southern side of the site, uncovering an area of 265 square meters. They discovered 12 graves from the Neolithic Age, including one triple burial; artifacts collected from the surface included jade huang pendants, stone axes, and pottery tripod vessels shaped like jars. Based on the characteristics of these items, the Tianningzhai Site is identified as part of the cultural lineage of the Xuejiagang Site.
