Xiongzhuang Old House

Xiongzhuang Old House is located in Xiongzhuang Group, Tianle Village, Yujing Town. Originally built in the late Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and renovated over generations, the existing structure mainly consists of an entrance hall, front hall, middle hall, and rear hall, featuring an architectural style from the late Qing Dynasty. The entrance hall forms a “carpenter’s square” layout with the central axis, facing southeast and situated northwest, spanning 11.7 meters in width and 40 meters in depth, covering an area of 207 square meters.

Aside from the distinctive features of the middle hall and screen wall, the construction characteristics of Xiongzhuang Old House are relatively plain, and its form has undergone significant changes.

Among the building’s “three courtyards and four halls,” the middle hall is the largest, covering approximately 46 square meters, with five rafter frames and a combination of post-and-lintel and raised-beam construction. The hall’s column bases are solid and drum-shaped, adorned with floral and geometric patterns. In the courtyard of the middle hall, there is a Sumeru pedestal and a flush-gable screen wall, with four “end blocks” protruding and carved on the upper part of the lintel; overall, the façade of the wall presents a “drooping lotus pillar” style.
