Qianshan Jiang Family Ancestral House

The Jiang Family Ancestral House is located in Jindun Group, Yuantan Neighborhood Committee, Yuantan Town. It was initially built in the late Ming Dynasty by three brothers—Xue Sheng, Tong Qing, and Tong Huai—descendants of the eighth generation of the Jiang family from the Jiyang lineage. Due to multiple renovations over the years, the overall architecture has largely lost its Ming Dynasty characteristics. The existing structure dates back to the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty.

The building also features a straight-line “one” shaped hip-and-gable roof screen wall at the entrance hall. The facing wall is made of polished bricks, and beneath the projecting eaves is an incised inscription reading “Bai Gan Liu Fang” (Fragrance of the Cypress Trunk) in large characters. At either end of the characters are carved designs of vases adorned with flowers.

The building has a floor plan consisting of two courtyards and three sections, facing south and covering an area of approximately 340 square meters across three halls. The house adopts a post-and-lintel combined with a through-tenon construction style. The central hall has eight pillars reaching the floor, with column bases in both square and shoulder-head shapes. The square column bases feature raised carvings of the “Eight Steeds,” which are vivid and full of character.
