Jiaojiang Bridge

The Jiaojiang River is the third largest river in Zhejiang Province. In December 1993, to facilitate cross-river traffic, the Jiaojiang Bridge was included in the province’s third batch of “Four-Self” infrastructure projects for transportation. The opening ceremony

Construction began on August 19, 1998, the main span was closed on June 29, 2001, and the bridge was completed that October 15. It officially opened to traffic on October 18, 2001. Crowds of people gathered on both banks to witness the event.

The Jiaojiang Bridge has a total length of 2,587.30 meters. The main bridge features a five-span continuous beam structure spanning 430 meters, with a designed maximum navigable water level of 5.04 meters (Wusong Datum). The connecting roads on both banks stretch 1,538 meters, and the total investment was approximately 350 million yuan. The bridge’s connecting project starts from Provincial Highway 83 in the north and ends at Provincial Highway 82 in the south, with a total connecting road length of 1,517.35 meters. The bridge links Provincial Highways 75, 82, and 83, which in turn connect to National Highway 104 and the Taizhou Expressway. It also connects with the Jianjiao Bridge in Sanmen, Taizhou, serving as a vital corridor for coastal transportation in the Taizhou area.

In its first year of operation, the Jiaojiang Bridge has played a significant role by strengthening the connection between Taizhou’s three major ports—Haimen Port, Jianjiao Port, and Damaiyu Port—and promoting exchanges between the communities on both sides of the river. According to surveys, over two million vehicles have crossed the bridge to date, averaging more than 5,500 vehicles per day. Meanwhile, shipping traffic on the main channel remains constant, with over 300 voyages by vessels of 3,000 tons or more.

Like a rainbow lying across the surging river, the Jiaojiang Bridge spans centuries of history, tightly uniting the hearts of the people on both banks and ushering in a new chapter in Taizhou’s economic and social development. Its completion has brought profound changes to people’s work and daily lives.

A bridge like a rainbow arches over the great river. The Jiaojiang Bridge is not only a rainbow link connecting the north and south of Jiaojiang, but also a bridge of unity that fosters shared prosperity for the people on both sides. Majestically standing above the river, weathering wind and rain with an upright spine, it is the golden bridge that heralds Taizhou’s return to glory and the shared pride of the people of Taizhou.
