Taizhou Baiyun Mountain
Secluded Paths
Baiyun Mountain is located in the urban area, with an elevation of 156 meters. The mountain is steep on the north side and gentle on the south, covered with lush bamboo and trees, and dotted with many Buddhist temples and Taoist monasteries. It is divided into Greater and Lesser Baiyun. "Jingxing Hall" is situated on Greater Baiyun; from there, a winding path of three hundred stone steps leads northwest to Lesser Baiyun, commonly known as "Halfway Thatched Nest," where the Jade Purity Palace is built. The mountaintop is flat and home to many ancient trees, notably the unique botanical wonder of the "Five Camphor Trees Embracing a Locust Tree." Jingxing Hall was built in the late Qing Dynasty and is the place where the modern eminent monk Disciple Xian took monastic vows. At the southwestern foot lies Hengjing Hall, also known as Futing Temple, a structure from the Qing Dynasty. The entire scenic area is serene and elegant, making it one of the main tourist attractions in the city.
