Taizhou Civic Square

Taizhou Civic Square is located at the northeastern end of the ecological green axis in the city center of Taizhou. Backed by the lush Baiyun Mountain and facing Wugui Mountain in the distance, it covers a total area of 22.84 hectares. It is an iconic project of the new Taizhou, consisting of three parts: the Water Feature Park, the Plaza, and the Cultural Plaza.

The Water Feature Park covers approximately 75,000 square meters, accounting for about one-third of the total area of the Civic Square. At its center is an artificial lake, designed in the shape of the map of Taizhou’s three urban districts, two county-level cities, and four counties. The lake features a musical fountain and a water screen movie. A nine-arch bridge in the lake resembles a dragon lying across the water, symbolizing the nine counties, cities, and districts of Taizhou. There is also a colorful seasonal flower garden and a children’s playground. This park fully reflects the contrast and interaction between natural and man-made landscapes, as well as historical and modern elements, making it an ecological park.

The Plaza serves as a gathering space for citizens and can accommodate 50,000 people for events. Behind it is the under-construction People's Congress Hall, and in front are the water features “Trunk Water Curtain” and “Three-Tiered Waterfall.”

The Cultural Plaza mainly consists of a flat, open triangular lawn and a large shallow triangular water area. Its central axis and sides feature tree-lined promenades, making it an important recreational space for residents. The current Taizhou Civic Square is a wonderful destination that integrates “mountain views, water scenes, and the sky,” offering understated charm with boundless appeal.
