Destination Introduction: Also known as Huata Temple, Heping Temple was built during the Tang Dynasty under the supervision of the famous Tang general Yu Chijingung. Emperor Taizong of Tang personally inscribed the plaque “Imperially Bestowed Heping Temple.” There is an old saying: “Heping Temple came before Tanzhe Temple, and Heping Temple came before Beijing City.” To this day, an imperial plaque inscribed by Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty with the words “大地金沙…” (Great Earth Golden Sand…) remains hanging on the central gate of the main hall. The temple grounds are serene—birds chirp and flowers bloom in spring, while lush green trees provide shade in summer. Traditional temple fairs are held here on the fifth day of the lunar month and on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month every year.
