Destination Introduction

The HuYu Natural Scenic Area is located 9 kilometers northwest of Changping, on the north side of the Badaling Expressway. It encompasses China’s Hundred Immortals Cave Primitive World, HuYu Valley, and the Red House Resort, combining both natural and cultural landscapes. It is an ideal destination for cultural tourism, leisure retreats, summer escapes, and adventure seekers.

The area boasts picturesque waters, tranquil valleys, and deep, mysterious caves, offering pleasant scenery in all seasons. It is also home to one of the ancient “Eight Views of Yanjing,” known as “HuYu Shining Gold.” Nearby attractions include the Ming Tombs, Gouya Scenic Area, and the Old Beijing Miniature Landscape Park.

Above the mountain lake in the scenic area lies the HuYu Red House Resort, which can accommodate up to 200 guests. It features a natural swimming beach, as well as a range of activities including dining, barbecues, and campfire parties.

The Primitive World inside the Hundred Immortals Cave includes four themed zones: the Dinosaur Era, the Primeval Forest Zone, the Python Zone, and the Ancient Ape Zone. The Dinosaur Era recreates the extinct creatures of the past, featuring herbivorous dinosaurs foraging, carnivorous dinosaurs battling, and flying pterosaurs, all vividly and lifelike. The Primeval Forest Zone is filled with towering ancient trees, clinging vines, cascading waterfalls, and wildlife such as tigers, leopards, black bears, lions, and gorillas. The Python Zone has various colorful pythons lurking among the grass, rocks, and trees. The Ancient Ape Zone showcases how ancient apes made fire by drilling wood, crafted stone tools, hunted in groups, migrated from trees to land, and gradually evolved from wearing leaves and animal skins to becoming human.

The Primitive World uses modern sound, light, and electrical technology along with realistic figures to transport visitors into a magical and dreamlike ancient era.

HuYu Valley stretches 12.5 kilometers, featuring overlapping peaks, beautiful waters, and serene valleys, with a total of 36 scenic spots. To the south of the valley lies the famous “HuYu Shining Gold,” one of the ancient “Eight Views of Yanping.” HuYu Reservoir is like a sapphire embedded at the valley entrance. In the peak of summer, whether boating gently or swimming and fishing, it offers a unique and delightful experience. After heavy rain, a waterfall over 30 meters high cascades like a silver chain into a deep pool, with thunderous sounds echoing through the valley and audible for miles. Nine connected waterfalls form nine pools, a marvel of nature both exquisite and rare. There is also a “primeval forest” dense with trees and shoulder-high wild grass, abundant with rare fruit and nut trees. In front of Sparrow Cave, white clouds linger, and the air currents near the cave entrance are strong—walking in feels as if a celestial being is gently pushing you from behind. The cave is deep and mysterious, and on rainy days, clouds often drift out from within. The scenic area has convenience stores, parking lots, as well as the Peach Blossom Garden Restaurant. Along the valley, the Red House Resort consists of dozens of forest cabins built against the mountains and by the water. Transportation Information

Take the Badaling Expressway from Madian Bridge, exit at Chen Zhuang, drive 3 kilometers north. By bus: From Deshengmen, take bus 345, 345 Branch Line, or 845 to Changping, then transfer to bus 357 and get off at Longhu Platform, or take bus 919 from Deshengmen to Longhu Platform.
