The Former Site of the Soviet Government at Zhuxi – Ancestral Hall of the Liao Family is a cultural tourism attraction, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

Zhuxi is a key revolutionary base area in our city. It was once the seat of the Longpu County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. As early as 1934, the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army Advance Detachment, led by Su Yu and Liu Ying, established roots here after entering southwestern Zhejiang, carrying out far-reaching revolutionary struggles and establishing the earliest county-level Soviet government. In recent years, in order to better inherit red culture and promote the great spirit of revolutionary predecessors, the village of Zhuxi, with the support of the town Party committee and government, has restored both the Former Site of the Soviet Government – the Ancestral Hall of the Liao Family, and the former office site of the Soviet Government – the Ancestral Hall of the Zhang Family. Not long ago, a red culture square was also built with an investment of over 400,000 yuan. The former sites of the Soviet Government have become key venues for government agencies, enterprises, institutions, and school groups across the province and city to commemorate revolutionary martyrs, receive thematic education, and hold various memorial activities. The town and village actively organize social research and practical activities around specific educational themes, and combine visits, tributes, and inspections with essay contests, thematic speech events, special lectures, and knowledge competitions. Emphasis is placed on using commemorative activities as an important means to promote patriotism and inspire patriotic enthusiasm among the public. Today, the village of Zhuxi has become a provincial Party history education base, a Longquan City revolutionary tradition education base, a red distance education square, a clean governance education base, and a patriotic education base, affectionately referred to by many as the “Red Army School.”

Zhuxi Village: The name Zhuxi, meaning “residing by the stream,” aptly describes the village, which is situated along the beautiful Wuxi River. It bears traces of commercial prosperity from the Ming and Qing dynasties, imprints of its revolutionary past, and the vibrancy of contemporary reform, opening-up, and new rural development. Zhuxi is also well known throughout the city and beyond for its simple folkways, neat farmhouses, clean environment, picturesque village scenery, and hardworking residents.
