Riding eastward from Wanda Plaza on Jinhua Road, climbing over Longquan Mountain, and then descending all the way back after reaching Shijing Temple—this 85-kilometer journey includes multiple climbs that will put cyclists’ legs to the test. Tomorrow, 745 riders will take on this route in winter, with the oldest being 77 years old and the youngest just 7. This is the second stop of the "Are You Afraid? Cycling Challenge Series" jointly launched by Chengdu Business Daily and ROCN (China Ultra Distance Cycling Organization). At 8 a.m. tomorrow, let’s set off together!

Wu Shiling, Chief Sports Officer of ROCN, said that this 85-kilometer round-trip route has 20 kilometers more than the first stop of the challenge series, and the greater difficulty lies in climbing over Longquan Mountain. “Those who often cycle, especially long distances, know that climbing consumes several times more energy than riding on flat ground, and many people ‘fear slopes and get tense at the mere mention of them.’ However, Longquan Mountain isn’t very high, and the road is quite manageable, making it a great place for beginner cyclists to test their skills,” Wu said. The sense of achievement upon finally reaching the mountain’s destination is irreplaceable by any flatland challenge.

The organizing committee reminds all participants to arrive early at the starting point tomorrow and complete the safety check. Professional inspectors from Chengdu Qiyun Bicycle Life Store have been specially invited by the committee to inspect every rider’s bicycle and safety equipment. All participants must pass the inspection and wear a helmet to compete. In addition, the committee has invited professionals from Lehass Bikes to provide technical guidance and consulting services related to bicycles.

If you complete the race within the stipulated time, you will receive a “Health Ambassador Certificate” issued by ROCN. Many participants in this event have also taken part in the first stop. We will hold two more challenge races on January 1 and February 22 next year. If you successfully complete all four cycling challenges organized by Chengdu Business Daily and ROCN this winter, you will not only have an impressive record of 385 kilometers over four rides, but you’ll also be entered into a lucky draw—with winners receiving a “super bike” worth 20,000 yuan!
