Wufeng

It gets its name from five uniquely shaped peaks that encircle the area — Chicken-Crowing Peak, Peach Blossom Peak, Fuzuo Peak, Waterfall Peak, and Guhou Peak — all named for their distinctive forms from east to west. The Wufeng scenic area is tranquil and pleasant, with fresh air and beautiful surroundings. All cave constructions here are built with wooden structures supported within the caves, using overhanging cliffs as roofs without any wooden rafters or tiles, keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer. Historically, it has been a gathering place for literati and scholars. The renowned Southern Song Dynasty scholars Chen Liang, Zhu Xi, and Lü Dalin once wrote and taught at Sankeng Academy here. In 1939, the Zhejiang Provincial Government relocated its offices to the Chonglou complex in Wufeng.
