The area around Yongkang Street near Dongmen is not only a hub for all kinds of food and snacks, but has also become a must-visit hotspot for Japanese and Korean tourists traveling to Taiwan. Meanwhile, Dongmen Market, adjacent to the Yongkang commercial district, hides many culinary gems known only to foodies. Today, we’re taking you and our editor Jing to try out this 30-year-old beef noodle spot!

Zhongli Niu Zhuang is located on the roadside of Yongkang Street.

Zhongli Niu Zhuang is situated next to a well-known mango shaved ice shop within Taipei’s Yongkang commercial district. Its signboard is fairly eye-catching. This long-established eatery, which has been around for 30 years, wins over food lovers with its delicious variety of beef dishes.

A big bowl of beef noodles.

The restaurant specializes in a full range of beef-based dishes, and our editor Jing couldn’t miss out on the beef noodles. On this chilly day, a steaming bowl of beef noodles is totally satisfying. The noodles here are thin, paired with beef that has a slight chew, offering a rich texture and a deeply flavorful broth.

Scallion egg fried rice.

Their egg fried rice may look plain, but the taste is anything but careless. Each grain of rice is distinct, paired with the fragrant aroma of slightly caramelized eggs—truly a flavor that lingers.

Stir-fried greens.

The stir-fried vegetable side dishes at the restaurant are a favorite among many foodies. The wok-seared cooking method adds a lot of flavor to these dishes. Even the simplest stir-fried greens surprise you with their aromatic presence when served and the layered flavors as you take a bite.
