There really are tickets to love and happiness—limited-edition Valentine’s train tickets from Taiwan Railways!

There really are tickets to love and happiness—Taiwan Railways has launched a limited-edition Valentine’s ticket set to celebrate the Qixi Festival during the Year of the Dragon in the lunar calendar. On Saturday, August 18th, the Yongkang Station in Tainan will sell the “Yong’an Bao’kang” Dragon and Phoenix Collector’s Edition ticket set, which includes one dragon ticket (“Yongkang–Bao’kang”) and one phoenix ticket (“Bao’kang–Yongkang”). The front of the dragon and phoenix tickets features a red cutout of the Chinese characters “dragon” and “phoenix” as a background design, while the ticket numbers and auspicious phrases on the back are printed entirely in red for the first time, breaking from tradition.

To highlight the hope that couples pursue happiness with sincerity, the front of the ticket card features the design of the 700 Series EMU train, affectionately nicknamed “Ah Fu” by Taiwan Railways. The inner page shows an illustration of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl meeting on the Magpie Bridge, accompanied by the message “Tenderness like water, keeping our hearts true, holding hands together, traveling a path of love and peace,” making it a commemorative edition for Valentine’s Day sales. The ticket set also comes with two “True Happiness” bookmarks, allowing couples to write blessings for each other as keepsakes. This is the first time the Yongkang Station has issued the “Yong’an Bao’kang” ticket set in this form. The “Yong’an Bao’kang” Dragon and Phoenix Collector’s Edition ticket set will go on sale at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Yongkang Station, with 5,000 sets available. Each set is priced at NT$100, and each person is limited to purchasing five sets, while supplies last. To maintain fairness, mail-order purchases are not available.
