Yongkang Korean War Memorial Park

Yongkang Korean War Memorial Park serves as a patriotic education base.

Yongkang Korean War Memorial Park is located at the southern end of Feifeng Bridge in Yongkang City, covering a total area of 17,368 square meters, with a sculpture area of 372 square meters and a green space of 14,952 square meters. It was established on the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Korean War, approved by the Yongkang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Municipal People's Government, and jointly organized by the Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, the Municipal People's Armed Forces Department, the Committee on the Care of the Next Generation, and the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. It was planned, designed, and implemented by the Yongkang Korean War Memorial Event Organizing Committee, and completed in October 2003. The park features an Arch of Triumph, memorial sculptures, an exhibition hall, a pavilion with a memorial stele, a J-6 fighter jet, a Type 62 tank, and two Type 59 anti-aircraft guns. The entire park is well laid out and has an imposing presence.

The Arch of Triumph is situated at the southern side of the park and serves as the main entrance.

The memorial sculpture is located in the central part of the park. It stands 5.3 meters tall with a base that is 7.27 meters on each side. At the top, it depicts a volunteer soldier gripping a rifle and a North Korean girl releasing a peace dove. Around it are six sculptures of volunteer combat heroes with distinct expressions. On the south side of the sculpture is an inscription by the great leader Mao Zedong, on the west side by Premier Zhou Enlai, on the north side by Commander Peng Dehuai of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army, and on the east side by President Jiang Zemin. The sides feature the names of 73 martyrs from Yongkang.

The J-6 fighter jet, Type 62 tank, and Type 59 anti-aircraft guns are positioned around the memorial sculpture.

The Korean War Exhibition Hall is located on the northern side of the park. It is a building designed in a traditional Chinese architectural style, housing over 500 precious photographs documenting the history of the Korean War, as well as real objects and images from the battlefield in Korea, preserved for many years by some surviving volunteer veterans.

The park pavilion with a stele is located next to the Arch of Triumph. Built in 2012, the pavilion houses a stele inscribed with a detailed account of the park’s construction.

Yongkang Korean War Memorial Park is a Zhejiang Provincial National Defense Education Base and a Jinhua Municipal Patriotic Education Base.
