Yangtai Zi Folk Village

The Yangtai Zi Folk Tourism Resort is located ten kilometers northwest of Nankou Town, Changping District. It lies two kilometers north of the Badaling Great Wall, is surrounded on the east by the Juyongguan Great Wall, faces the clear, mirror-like Xiangtan Reservoir to the south, and borders a state-owned protective forest belt to the west, which includes 20,000 acres of afforestation with over 85% vegetation coverage. In 2003, it was recognized as a municipal-level folk village. The scenery in the Yangtai Zi area varies beautifully with the seasons, and in 2002, it was awarded the honorary title of Green Ecology Advanced Village by the municipal Party committee and government.

Although the development of folk tourism in the village started relatively late, the local leaders are progressive and open-minded. By drawing on various experiences and making full use of the existing natural resources, they have created a folk tourism experience with distinctive characteristics. These include fishing, fruit picking, rural fun competitions, paintball shooting, and other special activities. There are also historical sites and famous trees such as the ruins of the Song Dynasty's Foyan Temple, the “Three Locust Trees Embracing One Cypress,” a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree, and fragrant cypress woods—all of which are truly worth visiting. Most importantly, the simplicity, honesty, sincerity, and warmth of the mountain farmers are the main draws for tourists and the most favorable factors contributing to the rapid development of folk tourism in Yangtai Zi. With its mountains and water, steep peaks, wildflowers in the forests, and streams and springs flowing along the roadsides, it is an excellent destination for travel and leisure.
