Ziwei Mountain has long been known as the “No. 1 Dragon Mountain under Heaven,” often regarded as a sister mountain to Huangshan and Sanqing Mountain. In Chinese folklore, it is said that the dragon had nine sons, each with different preferences and forms, shaped by the distinct spiritual essences of the landscapes they inhabited. Legend has it that Tianji Longmen is where the nine sons of the dragon were born. The scenic area is rich with traces of dragons, featuring wonders such as the Dragon Palace, Dragon Bridge, Dragon Pavilion, Dragon Gate, Dragon Saliva Hot Spring, Dragon Pool Waterfall, and Flying Dragon in the Sky, making it a grand culmination of “dragon culture.” Even more miraculously, it is said that a carp once leaped over the Dragon Gate here and transformed into a dragon, but, enchanted by the beautiful scenery, it refused to ascend to heaven. Later, enlightened by a holy monk from India, it transformed into a winding, majestic mountain trail sprawling across the lofty ridges. The trail stretches 1,800 meters, connecting many of the area’s most essential attractions. Standing on it, visitors can take in breathtaking views that inspire awe.
