Sacred Pond

Also known as Shun’s Pond, legend has it that in ancient times, Yu the Great passed through Xiangshan on his way to tame the floods in the southeast. He took a short rest there, drank from the spring, and found the water clear and flavorful. He then used his sword to carve out the pond, hence its name Shun’s Pond.

It is located in the central part of the mountaintop of Xiangshan. The pond is roughly circular, about 2 meters in diameter, surrounded by mountain rocks, making it look like a large well. There is a spring beneath this pond, so the water is very clear and never dries up all year round. The pond is home to snail species not found elsewhere, making it a unique feature of Xiangshan.
