Maple leaves turn red and ginkgo trees golden in Zhangjiajie—autumn paints the “Avatar world” in even more vibrant hues

Renowned worldwide after the movie *Avatar*, Zhangjiajie National Park is not only famous for its iconic pillar-like rock formations but also boasts dense forest trails as a major highlight. As autumn arrives, the mountain forests gradually take on various colors such as red and yellow.

According to local guides, the cooler autumn temperatures in Zhangjiajie, along with the splash of various plant colors, add a tender charm to the area.

Since most of Zhangjiajie’s forests consist of native plants, it’s rare to see vast expanses of fiery red maples in autumn. However, an occasional bright red maple tree or golden ginkgo stands out vividly against the green backdrop.
