Tomb Site of Jiang Tingxi

The tomb site of Jiang Tingxi is located in Shuangtang Village, Fenghuang Town, Zhangjiagang City. It is commonly known as the “Huxia Jiang Tomb” or the “Tomb of Grand Secretary Jiang.” According to the Revised Chronicles of Changzhao, the Grand Secretary Jiang Wensu Gong Tingxi, his son the Grand Secretary Wenke Gong Pu, and his grandson the Vice Minister of War ?r were all buried on the southeastern side of Huyang Mountain at Huxia. Field investigations by census personnel revealed that there were originally 2 tombs and 4 imperial stele pavilions at this site. In the 1960s, one of the tombs was excavated and found to contain rich burial objects, mainly gold and silver jewelry, jade carvings, historical engraved books, calligraphy and painting collections, as well as paintings. However, after being unearthed, these items went missing and could not be traced. The other tomb, due to being constructed with glutinous rice paste, was difficult to excavate and thus remains well-preserved. Census personnel observed one remaining stone stele at the site with exquisitely carved patterns. Another 4 stone steles are currently preserved in TIANZHUANG.

Fenghuang Town: Located on the southern bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Fenghuang Town lies at the southern gateway of Zhangjiagang City, covering an area of 78.7 square kilometers with a population of 64,000. The town boasts picturesque landscapes and a simple, honest folk culture, making it a typical land of fish and rice.

Fenghuang Town enjoys a superior geographical location. National Highway 204, the Suyuzhang First-Class Highway, and the Yanjiang Expressway all run through the town. It is only 30 kilometers from the largest international commercial port along the Yangtze River—Zhangjiagang Port—and the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone. From the local interchange on the Yanjiang Expressway, it takes just 45 minutes to reach Shanghai, placing the town directly within the sphere of influence of the international metropolis.
