Wuxi Dou Mountain Chan Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Dou Mountain Chan Temple was originally a thousand-year-old ancient temple and is the second-largest Chan temple in the Wuxi area, second only in size to Mashan Xiangfu Chan Temple. It is located in Bashi Town, Xibei, Wuxi. The original temple was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution and was rebuilt in 1998. The new temple follows traditional Buddhist architectural styles, featuring majestic and solemn structures with a complete array of Buddha statues.

Dou Mountain Chan Temple has a long history. It is said that as early as the Western Han Dynasty, the “Sanqing Temple” was built on Dou Mountain. In the year 15 AD, the Dou Mountain Temple was newly constructed. After being destroyed in war in 1861, the “Jade Emperor Hall” was built. Dharma does not arise alone but flourishes when conditions are right. Responses and connections are profound and inconceivable. Just when the Dou Mountain Temple was in ruins and had no support, in the autumn of 1997, Master Fahai was invited to come to Dou Mountain. With his naturally arising compassion for all beings, he made a great vow, proclaimed the Dharma boldly, and accepted the responsibility of restoring the Dou Mountain Temple.

From then on, he began the unimaginably arduous journey of establishing the sacred site. The temple was rebuilt on Dou Mountain and named Dou Mountain Temple.
