Lihu Park

Lihu Park is located at the north end of Lihu Bridge, nestled by the bridge and overlooking the lake. It features meticulously designed landscapes and scenic views, covering an area of 15.8 hectares, and serves as an important node along the Lihu Scenic Belt. Construction began in March 2004, and the park was completed and opened to the public just before National Day that same year. In its design and construction, the park draws on the strengths of both traditional Chinese gardens and European-style parks to create a high-quality green space. It combines leisure, recreation, gathering activities, and commercial functions into a unified tourism and leisure center. The park is thoughtfully arranged with four themed scenic areas — “Charm of Spring,” “Elegance of Summer,” “Rhyme of Autumn,” and “Tranquility of Winter” — showcasing the delicate beauty of the Jiangnan region through seasonal flowers and trees. With water encircling the park and scenery evolving along the waterways, twelve small bridges highlight the charm of the watery landscape.

Within the park lies the smaller "Shi Yuan" Garden, named after the legendary tale of Fan Li and Xi Shi boating on Lihu Lake. The garden is embraced by lush woods and slender bamboos, crisscrossed by winding paths and secluded streams. A pool of emerald water sits at its heart, resembling a moon mirror, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Four pavilions — "Flowing Rhyme," "Heavenly Distance," "Pleasant Red," and "Clear Glow" — stand watchfully at the corners, each exuding its own charm. The Water Mirror Corridor, built along the water's edge, forms a graceful 286.7-meter-long arc, blending Eastern and Western architectural elements in a uniquely stylish design. Engraved along the corridor are classic poems, paintings, and photographs from ancient and modern times that praise Taihu Lake, highlighting the vibrant culture of Taihu and offering a glimpse into the long-standing civilization of the Five Lakes region. In front of the corridor lies a pool of clear water, dotted with lotus flowers standing tall and fragrant, their beauty lingering in the air.

The world’s first overwater Ferris wheel, "Taihu Star," stands 115 meters tall along the lakeshore of the park. Riding the Wuxi Lihu Ferris wheel not only offers views of scenic spots such as Taihu Fairy Island and Luding Mountain, but also panoramic vistas of downtown Wuxi. When night falls, the Ferris wheel’s electronic lights transform into a dazzling display of beautiful scenes. This massive overwater Ferris wheel, together with Lihu Bridge, forms one of Wuxi’s iconic lakeside city landmarks and creates a magnificent gateway to the Taihu New City CBD.
