Introduction

The planned total area of Xiaonan Lake Scenic Area is 1.661 square kilometers, of which the water area covers 0.962 square kilometers. The layout of Xiaonan Lake Scenic Area resembles a "W" with an added horizontal line. The horizontal line represents Hunan Road, while the empty space within the "W" forms the water surface of Xiaonan Lake. The scenic area includes one pond, two islands, three pavilions, and five gardens. The one pond refers to the water area of Xiaonan Lake, which is connected to the main lake via two long bridges, forming a relatively independent and serene pond with garden architecture. The two islands are located on the north and south sides of the lake, extending from Hunan Road and the southern shore respectively. These islands face each other across the water and are connected by landscape bridges, contributing to the varied terrain of Xiaonan Lake and ensuring that every land or water route offers constantly changing scenery. The three pavilions and five gardens refer to the classical-style garden structures here, including pavilions, gardens, courtyards, terraces, platforms, kiosks, and towers, as well as bridges and embankments. The entire Xiaonan Lake Scenic Area features exquisitely designed water surfaces and scenic arrangements around the lake. With key landscapes characterized by the charm of Jiangnan gardens—such as guild art halls, waterside homes, small bridges over flowing streams, Famous Gardens and Fragrant Blossoms, and Lotus Pond with Fish and Lotus Roots—it forms the classical Chinese cultural and natural landscape features of a “serene lake and tranquil garden.”
