Martyrs' Cemetery of Lü Xiangbi

The Martyrs' Cemetery of Lü Xiangbi is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

The Martyrs' Cemetery of Lü Xiangbi is located at the eastern end of Baitabu Town, Donghai County, covering an area of about ten acres. The cemetery is 90 meters long from north to south, approximately 40 meters wide at the southern end and about 75 meters wide at the northern end. It is enclosed by a brick wall on all sides, with a total length of about 370 meters. The martyrs' tombstone, made of granite, stands about 6 meters tall in the center of the cemetery. The front of the stele is inscribed in relief with the words “Eternal glory to the great communist fighter, Martyr Lü Xiangbi.” The inscription is signed by “The people of all walks of life in Donghai County.” Beneath the stele, the martyrs’ porcelain portrait is inlaid in a square granite block with black-painted edges. The base of the stele has two steps, also constructed from granite blocks, and is surrounded by lush pine trees. The exhibition room behind the stele displays the martyr’s personal belongings, photographs of his life and deeds, various memorial items, as well as photos of the children he saved.

In the northeast corner of the exhibition room, where the martyr died, stands the Memorial Pavilion for Martyr Lü Xiangbi. It is a double-story, four-cornered antique-style structure, housing a stone stele that is 2 meters tall. The front of the stele is inscribed in relief with the words “Site of Martyr Lü Xiangbi’s Sacrifice.”

There is one gate each at the southern and northern ends of the cemetery. Above the southern gate is engraved “Martyrs' Cemetery of Lü Xiangbi,” while the couplet on both sides of the northern gate reads: “A hero who sacrificed himself to save others—his gallant spirit soars beyond the skies; a martyr with loyalty and devotion—his name lives on through the ages.”
