On clear days, the boundless blue of the sea meeting the sky stretches as far as the eye can see, with attractions such as Baxiandong, Shiyusan, Sanciutai, Shan Yuan Beach, and Little Yehliu appearing one after another. Renowned activities like rafting, river tracing, whale watching, and tribal tours are also unique experiences exclusive to the East Coast. To share more of the East Coast’s lesser-known spots and creative ways to enjoy them with the public, the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has specially launched the “Discover Hidden Gems: East Coast Food, Fun & Adventure Contest & Public Voting.” Just submit your creative play ideas, and after a public vote, you could take home the top prize of NT$30,000, plus round-trip air tickets to Hong Kong, a Stepdragon folding bicycle, vouchers, and many other exciting prizes.
Provincial Highway 11 along the East Coast stretches a total of 189 kilometers, featuring breathtaking mountain and sea views where the ocean meets the sky. Every spot offers natural ecology, cultural landscapes, and unique homestays worth exploring. In addition to marine activities, rafting adventures, tribal experiences, and fresh seafood, cycling along the scenic coastal route of Highway 11 is currently one of the hottest biking routes.
Want to share a unique and creative way to explore? Submissions are open from now until June 30. Just create the most imaginative private route based on your East Coast travel experience and photos, and submit it for the contest. The organizers will select 10 finalist entries based on criteria such as theme relevance, visual appeal of text and images, uniqueness of hidden spots, itinerary creativity, and value for money. These finalists will then enter the public voting phase from July 15 to July 31. The voting results will be announced on August 10 on the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration’s website, allowing more people to discover and enjoy the best secret travel routes across the East Coast.
